YoungLife's national mission is to reach out to all high school students so every youth has the opportunity to hear the Gospel and know Jesus Christ. Volunteer leaders educate students on the teachings of Jesus and provide homework help, college preparation assistance, and basic life skills mentoring for independent living. YoungLife–Berkeley serves East Bay students holistically, meeting tangible and spiritual needs as volunteers walk alongside them during formative years. One of YoungLife's programs focuses on tutoring students who need extra attention in certain subjects. College-aged leaders and working-adult volunteers serve on a weekly basis by giving one-on-one attention to students in need.
